Advanced Technologist Education believes in formal education programs for Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists. This MRI curriculum was written to provide a systematic and comprehensive training program that goes far beyond traditional "on-the-job" training, and gives students a knowledge base that is difficult to achieve by self-study MRI programs.
About the Advanced Technologist Education MRI Curriculum
The MRI curriculum was developed to be used in formal education programs. This curriculum presents a thorough and practical knowledge of MRI physics and normal anatomy that the student can apply in order to produce quality diagnostic MR images.
This curriculum can be used as a self-paced independent study tool, or, if the educational setting allows, lectures could be derived from the textbooks using the curriculum as a guide.
Who will benefit from the curriculum?
The curriculum is not intended to be sold to individuals, because a complete education in MRI should include the clinical time and personal instruction that a formal program provides. The curriculum was designed to be licensed by:
Institutions can implement an excellent MRI educational program very quickly. All that is needed is a clinical site and an experienced and knowledgeable MRI Technologist to function as Clinical Instructor. Reading assignments, learning objectives, and exams are all included in the curriculum.
Textbooks
The curriculum uses two physics textbooks and a sectional anatomy textbook and workbook. The texts are the newest, most current, and among the most popular and well- respected texts available.
Industry Compliance
This curriculum is consistent with MRI Educational Curriculum guidelines published by the Section for Magnetic Resonance Technologists (SMRT) and the Association of Educators in Radiologic Science (AERS).
The clinical objectives in the curriculum are consistent with the clinical requirements for the ARRT examination in MRI.The average ARRT MRI test scores of students using this curriculum to date is over 90%.
About the Author
Todd Frederick RT (R) (MR) has been a Radiologic Technologist since 1986, and has been performing MRI since 1989. His MRI work history includes experience in a free-standing out-patient facility, a large referral hospital, a small community hospital, and a major teaching hospital. He has worked with MRI systems from different manufacturers and with many different operating platforms. He has spoken and written for a regional Section for Magnetic Resonance Technologist (SMRT) chapter, and currently conducts MRI seminars across the USA and Canada. He was registered in MRI by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in1995 with a total test score of 93. He has designed and implemented MRI educational programs using this curriculum, and currently teaches at El Centro College in Dallas, TX.
